6 PACK, PACK IN, PACK DOWN, COMPACT, PACK OUT.

GAGA...Loved By Few Hated By Most

Beer of choice for the 13 Thames Lady Gaga Anti-Illuminati Conspiracy Party. The party included Sets by Nico Haupt, Spires of the Totoro Collective, Grand Selector, Videos by Miles and Jackie, Projections by VLAD of the Glassbead Collective, Figureitout DJ, DJ Christ Almighty, and a Special Lady Gaga DJ set of remixes and mash ups in a lengthy endurance battle of DJ SACRED HEART vs. DJ TIL THAT BOY IS MINE. The party was "glamfuckingtacular" just as freakflagpromotions promised.

Yes I did dress up as the Lady, complete with a black triangle under my left eye....and as soon as I find pictures of me at the party I will put them up! But before I get to much more excited reminiscing over the evening, let me tell you about that Stone Arrogant Bastard Pint and 6oz that I felt was appropriate to start the evening with given the nature of the party and my
convictions as a FREE BITCH BABY!

The Bastard was delicious! Balanced full flavor of vanilla, malts and mild hops balancing out the sweet with some citrus but not bite. Tantalizing... and filling!!!

Welcome to 125th St. SUGAR HILL

I went up to MAYSLES CINEMA tonight between 127th and 128th St on Malcolm X Blvd. and saw two documentaries- 80 Blocks From Tiffany's and Shotgun. They were screened in their upstairs and lower level theatre for a suggested donation of $1o.oo and were completely sold out. The films were followed by short panel discussions with the Directors and Cinematographers as well as people featured in the documentaries. I also noticed the presence of members of the Savage Nomads, the Gang that the documentaries were based on, in the audience.

The first film, 80 Blocks From Tiffany's, was directed by Gary Weis (who was present at the filming) in 1979. It is about an hour long, in color, and highlights members of the Gangs the Savage Nomads and the Savage Skulls, handling their stories lightly. This documentary contains mostly interviews of the Gang members, some footage from their daily activities, but also re-enactments of things they were known to do. There were also interviews with the police force that was responsible for South Harlem at the time.

The second flim, Shotgun, was directed by Steven Goodman in 1982. He was also present at the screening, as was his cinematographer, whose name escapes me. This film was done in Super 8 B&W film and was over dubbed, it was raw and gave a more dirty perspective of the actions and inter-weavings of the Gangs and their daily lives. It focused on 18 year old gang member, Shotgun, who lived the life of poverty and joblessness as did many people in Harlem at that time.

Both Documentaries were great and I will definitely be getting back to MAYSLES to see more contemporary social and political documentaries in the near future. Another great thing about going to Maysles was their house brew... SUGAR HILL Golden Ale from the Harlem Brewing Company. Not a hoppy beer by any means, as you might infer by it's name. The Golden Ale is sweet, caramel-ly and ends with a definite bite.

Pliny the Elder And The Effects of Social Gov. Programs, Aging Populations, And The Money Future Generations Will Never Be Able to Hold Onto, EVER

Before jumping into a sea of critism on our past and current administration and their abundance of allowances which benefit the safety, comfort, and continuation of an elderly population while reducing the upcoming generation's numbers and future, by continuing to hold jobs (which then forces us to continue school and therefore become unnecessarily over qualified, debt-ridden, number crunching, nickle and dime counting, still unemployed with a DR. in everything, individuals forced to depend on welfare and food stamps, as if we never had the choice to begin with), and vacationing in Florida and other walking nursing home destinations across the southern states in the U.S. of A...... I want to talk about inflation!
Italic
Or rather about this type of take and take legacy that of society is consumed by! What happened to "the good old days", or the sense of community, or even just the give to take part?

Wait no... I just want to say that in order to buy Pliny the Elder from the Russian River Brewing Co. on the east coast of the United States, one must first travel to the great state of Pennsylvania, then find a retailer that actually supplies the stuff (which there are a good amount, but still Pennsylvania is huge!)...ahm....then!....one must grab an entire case of the stuff, thats right one entire case, and then spend upwards of $130.00 U.S. dollars (AY!) to lug the stuff home!

Even if this beer wasn't damn good, I would lie and say that it was because of what I had to do to get it.

On another note, the beer itself was named after the Roman Naturalist Pliny the Elder, born in 23 A.D., who first gave HOPS its Latin name, "Lupus Salictarius", identifying it scientifically. He died in 79 A.D. while saving people from the fires of Mount Vesuvius. A Hop head Humanitarian after my own heart. To him, the Russian River Brewing Company produces a Hoppy and Piny IPA, 8% alcohol by volume and 92 IBU's, expensive as hell leaving you broke but taken care of, full of that humanitarian charm!

Pliny the Younger, his son documented his fathers works and also his experience in the Vesuvius eruptions. And for him, thank you very much, is the Company's PLINY THE YOUNGER for the younger generations who get to benefit from what is left behind by their predecessors. But in this case the Russian River Brewing Company did the younger generations a favor, for this beer is a TRIPLE IPA!, its 11% ABV and off-the-charts on the IBU's. It is like a super hyper version of the Pliny the Elder, full of pine and citrus and flavor...AND WE NEED IT!

So Beer.... New review.

Tried a few BBC's the other night, looking for a really bitter hoppy ale and had a 1/2 pint of the RIVER ALE which was far too malty and sweet, I would even say a little watery; also the BERKSHIRE ALE which was better and a little more bitter, but heaviery with a good head, a good balance of malts and hops leaning more toward the hops than the River Ale. I decided that BBC is not the place to go... with the exception of the Lost Sailor IPA...which is pretty damn good but not The Best I've ever had***

***But really STONE is uncontestable and I will admit this is an unfair judgment. Still BBC...eh its alright, I am from Western Mass so I have to represent, the Lost Sailor is still good.

It takes 4 hrs and 4 40s

This is a beer blog, and I think that maybe I shouldn't post this. At least not on a blog about beer. But yesterday, a few friends who have been putting together a long project involving the creation of lots of bands in very little time, focusing on a certain genre in order to fill their play lists with only music they like and they created asked me to sing in their Riot GRRRL band.

I accepted enthusiastically and suggested the purchase of a few 40's to get the ball rolling. Who knew what sort of confidence could be swelled up with the communal sharing of the cheapest, nastiest (well not the nastiest, we weren't drinking Steel Reserve or Black Label), beer that dimes and nickles could buy.

But the end product is great!

GIGGLE. FUCK.

not too bad... no, not too bad

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has always been a little bit iffy for me. I have never tasted a truly fantastic beer from them, but tonight I did discover a very satisfying IPA from them. I picked up their Torpedo Extra IPA at the bodega around the corner, thinking that I was just settling on a brew. To my surprise, this is very satisfyingly bitter. Hops, not malts, bold, piney citrus pith.

Pretty Good for Sierra Nevada.

ain't nothing but the HOP JUICE

Delicious brew from the TWO BROTHERS BREWING COMPANY out of Chicago. One of their artisan brews aptly titled "Hop Juice".

IT IS. If hop was juice, this would be it. Bitter sweet... citrus candy, full spice, mmm. I wish I had more words to express my taste buds joy in the undertaking of this IPA.

RECOMENDED: HIGHLY
